It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Christine Bowen. Christine was a visionary artist of refreshing originality dedicated to expressing her truth through her Art and drawn to themes of the natural world inspired by local and African landscapes. From her Kenmare studio to her travels abroad, her zest for life and her passion for her medium left an indelible mark on all who knew her and collected her work.

The website is now maintained by her family and her Estate. Our mission is to preserve, catalog, and share Christine's creative legacy with collectors, institutions, and future generations.

Christine Bowen

lived and practiced in Kenmare, Co. Kerry, Ireland.

She previously worked in interior design in Dublin until 1987, when she then commenced a fine art course in the RTC Sligo, culminating in a B.A Hons Art degree from University of Ulster, York Street, in 1994. Christine’s work is influenced by history, archaeology and poetry, most notable being W.B Yeats, Lorca and Cohen. Flora and fauna are also signatures.

In addition to the native Irish species her work was influenced by her travels, in particular frequent visits to Kenya in East Africa. With the tropical fish, flowers and colours of that coast evident in her painting.

Group & solo exhibitions in Ireland & Europe. Work in private & public collections internationally.
